When calculating material cost, multiply your net panel area by 1.4 to account for waste. This prevents cost overruns and production delays.

4. REACH Compliance Is a Requirement, Not a Premium

Regulation (EC) No 1907/2006 applies to all leather products sold in the EU. Ensure your tannery provides current REACH test reports for chromium VI, azo dyes, and restricted substances. LWG-certified tanneries should already have this documentation.

5. OEM/ODM Requires Full-Grain-Specific Engineering

Work with partners who understand leather behavior: hardware sizing for 1.2-1.4mm material, edge finishing protocols, and pattern nesting optimization. Generic handbag factories without full-grain experience will produce disappointing results.
